BIG NEWS:
Hey Guys,
This has been a long-time coming. We are VERY excited to announce something that’s huge in the life of Thirst Project. We are launching a brand new project in the country of Swaziland in Africa, and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s been heavy on the hearts of our Team to get involved in Swaziland ever since we first learned about them and we are finally getting to move on it.
Here’s some quick info on Swaziland for you:
-Swaziland is a little, tiny country that is right above, but almost completely engulfed by South Africa (get ready for the World Cup…”What! What!”).
-The population is just barely over 1Million.
-Swaziland has THE HIGHEST HIV/AIDS population of any country IN THE WORLD. (Over 52% of the people living in Swaziland have AIDS.)
***REASON FOR THIRST PROJECT’S INVOLVEMENT:***
Even if people receive the best HIV/AIDS treatment and care, have access to the best ARV’s, etc., their immune systems are so weak, that when they drink contaminated water, it then kills them FASTER than the AIDS does!!! This is NOT okay.
So, we’ve made a bold commitment to provide safe, clean drinking water to the people of Swaziland and create an environment where other AIDS Organizations can do effective work. We’ve taken it so far as to make the ostentatious statement to say that we will not withdraw from the country of Swaziland until everyone has access to safe, clean water!
Today was a big day for this project. Today, our Founder, Seth Maxwell, met with SouthBrook Church in Ohio to solidify this partnership. SouthBrook is our first official partner in the project and we are going public with this commitment. Even in this day alone, SouthBrook has committed to fund at least $50,000 in water projects in Swaziland this year!
